Store Assistant Manager

Location: 1250 2A Avenue N Unit 39C, Lethbridge

We seek an experienced Store Assistant Manager, preferably from a specialty retail environment, with at least one year in a leadership role that is able to support the development of our store. The successful candidate will demonstrate retail business understanding and the judgment and consistent approach required to lead and develop a productive sales team, in concert with the Store Manager. And of course, this individual will also share our belief in, and passion for, offering quality products and an unparalleled toy & book shopping experience.

Position Outline:

As the full time Assistant Manager of a brand new Mastermind store, you will provide leadership and day to day operations management and coaching for the store team. You will bring your enthusiasm & experience to a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts most particularly supporting the critical trading periods.

The primary responsibilities will include contributing as a member of the management team:

Sales and Leadership

  • Maximize the sales opportunities in the store
  • Create an exceptional customer service experience
  • Motivate and coach employees to meet their potential and our customer's needs
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of an enticing shopping environment

Store Operations

  • Participate in the creation of employee schedules and shift zone coverage. Monitor floor coverage throughout the shift
  • Participate in the training and supervision of staff on relevant store operations including POS procedures, merchandising, inventory handling, loss prevention and safe work practices
  • In conjunction with Head Office, arrange for repairs and maintenance to keep the premises in top quality condition

Additional Considerations

  • A dedicated team player who is able to think on their feet, problem solve and diplomatically address concerns of customers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, energetic and able to adapt quickly to a fun-filled, fluid environment
  • Possess good time management skills, able to multi-task and align priorities with company values
  • A knowledge of child development is an asset
  • Computer literate using MS Office products

Store Assistant Manager

Location: 1079 Maple Ave, Milton

We seek an experienced Store Assistant Manager, preferably from a specialty retail environment, with at least one year in a leadership role that is able to support the development of our store. The successful candidate will demonstrate retail business understanding and the judgment and consistent approach required to lead and develop a productive sales team, in concert with the Store Manager. And of course, this individual will also share our belief in, and passion for, offering quality products and an unparalleled toy & book shopping experience.

Position Outline:

As the full time Assistant Manager of a brand new Mastermind store, you will provide leadership and day to day operations management and coaching for the store team. You will bring your enthusiasm & experience to a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts most particularly supporting the critical trading periods.

The primary responsibilities will include contributing as a member of the management team:

Sales and Leadership

  • Maximize the sales opportunities in the store
  • Create an exceptional customer service experience
  • Motivate and coach employees to meet their potential and our customer's needs
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of an enticing shopping environment

Store Operations

  • Participate in the creation of employee schedules and shift zone coverage. Monitor floor coverage throughout the shift
  • Participate in the training and supervision of staff on relevant store operations including POS procedures, merchandising, inventory handling, loss prevention and safe work practices
  • In conjunction with Head Office, arrange for repairs and maintenance to keep the premises in top quality condition

Support Sevice Analyst (temporary)

Location: 415 Milner Avenue , Toronto

Job Purpose:

Provide first point of contact service for hardware and software support for all retail and NSC employees. Identify, and escalate to second level support technical issues for computer, point of sale, telephone, mobile technology, security and related technology systems and serve as communications liaison. Assist in a variety of store technology implementation activities.

Job responsibilities:

Solutions Support:

  • Respond to all calls and/or e-mail in a timely and professional manner according to the set criteria and customer service standards, from both store & NSC
  • Analyze the type of problem. Make determination as to problem resolution options; prioritize problems based on the impact to operations in the store, office operations and other calls being handled
  • Register and classify support incident in ticketing system
  • Execute actions and recovery routines as quickly as possible to restore service or satisfy request
  • Escalate issue to next level supervisor when documented processes do not address issue
  • Act as liaison between stores and NSC and 3rd party providers
  • Develop knowledge base of problem resolution, errors and where appropriate, workarounds, document workarounds, via supplied ticketing system
  • Make recommendations to management with respect to resolutions to ongoing issues, re-occurring system concerns or processes and possible permanent solutions

Additional key activities:

  • Assist others within the IT team to coordinate small store technology projects (new solutions, changes, upgrades, communication), liaison with Store Operations team where appropriate
  • Complete all logs and incident documentation as required
  • Participate with testing of new software and set up of new hardware, specifically as it relates to new store technology, implementations and rollouts
  • Participate in planning discussions when considering new technology developments, specifically at store level
  • Keep current all IT solutions procedures and processes
  • Monitor and keep up to date on relevant internal and external practices related to the job and understand the general goals and directions of the company

  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn new technology
  • Good listening skills; ability to adapt responses appropriately based on the customers’ needs; respond politely and calmly; use clear non-technical language, speak concisely, and deal with customers so that conversations end on a positive note.
  • Strong organizational skills and time/self-management skills
    Demonstrated ability & interest to provide exceptional quality customer focused service
  • Strong & clear verbal and written communication skills.  French will be an asset

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to IT Support Services Manager
  • Provides service to and works in cooperation with retail team and National Support Centre staff

Effort & Working Conditions:

  • Usually works standardized hours however will be required to alter work hours to provide service, complete projects, solve problems requiring immediate attention. Some shift work will be required e.g. 8a – 4p, 10a – 6p, 4p – 12a and rotating weekends and holidays
  • Required to carry a company supplied cellphone for after-hours store support
  • Mental effort & concentration required to use computer system, focus on solving issues and meeting customer expectations, supporting individuals from a distance; meeting deadlines
